| What are eLCs |
| 1. |
E-learning credits (or eLCs) is a “catchy” name for the standards fund grant 31c. |
| 2. |
eLCs totalling £100 MILLION are given out to English schools each year to be spent on educational software to support teaching in any subject across the curriculum - usually CD ROMs and websites. |
| 3. |
LEAs split up the cash pile between all the govt funded schools in their area. It works out at about £1000 per school + £10 per pupil. |
| 4. |
Each year your school’s eLCs have to be spent by August 31st otherwise that money is written off! So don’t miss out on it! |
| |
| How do I spend them? |
| 1. |
eLCs can be spent on any e-learning products certified by Curriculum Online. Certified products show off this logo:

| 2. |
Curriculum Online is a website run for the DfES which lists every product that can be bought with eLCs. It’s fully searchable and will direct you to the relevant supplier’s website for any products you wish to buy. |
| 3. |
Your school will have an eLC budget holder (usually the head teacher, head of department, bursar or ICT coordinator). They can tell you any specific school procedures that need to be followed for spending eLCs. |
| 4. |
To buy from us using eLCs just order as normal and tell us that you want to use eLCs by ticking the box on the Schools Order Form or letting the Operator know you want to use them if you’re on the phone. |
| 5. |
We will confirm this to the DfES and the invoice expenditure should be recorded in your school accounts under Standards Fund Grant 31c. |
