CGP to the Rescue
Have you seen one of our recent adverts for top people who want to grow with us?
Are you thinking that CGP might be the answer to your frustration at work?
If so, you've come to the right place.
Read on to continue your search for career satisfaction...
1. So how will CGP rescue me from career frustration?
We don't look at recruitment as "finding some people to fill roles". We're looking for great people who can
find their niche here and use their talents to the full.
- We value ability above experience — bright people learn easily.
- We promote on merit, not on age or experience.
- We're not keen on heavy-handed hierarchy — everyone's input is important.
- We don't believe in spin and hard-sell. We think real success comes from doing things excellently.
- We're self-aware. We've learnt that recognising our weaknesses helps us to grow into something even better.
- We believe in treating people well — happy staff achieve; satisfied customers keep coming back.
2. What would I be doing?
Our growth means that we need more talent for most areas of our business. We know from experience that bright
people like to try new things as their career progresses. So, whether you already have a passion for one business
area, or you want to try out something new, we've probably got the role for you. We need more people in our:
- Sales team — helping us to learn from the details of our trading trends
- Marketing team — improving how we use customer information
- Operations team — making all our systems and processes ever slicker
- HR team — driving recruitment and making sure that CGP is always a great place to work
- Production team — getting our print decisions just right
- Editing team — producing more brilliant books
Whether you have lots of experience or you're fresh out of university, the first thing you'll be doing is
learning loads about us. This makes all the difference to your effectiveness, so we always take the
time to do it properly.
After that, you'll find your niche and really contribute to our performance. As you show us what you're
capable of and build our trust in your ability, you'll move through the business and grow as we do.
3. Why will I be right for these roles?
You'll be a flexible, positive person who is:
- Really clever — with, say, an excellent Science or Maths degree from a top university
- Curious — which includes the ability to understand both sides of a debate
- Analytical — able to judge and communicate evidence clearly
- Passionate — with an eye for detail and a sense of pride in your work
And you definitely won't be:
- Just "good enough"
- A bluffer with the gift of the gab
- An inflexible know-it-all
4. What's in it for me?
- A great opportunity to develop your skills in an exciting, innovative and well-respected business
- The chance to find out what you're really good at and what you enjoy doing
- Talented, supportive colleagues you'll enjoy working with
- A competitive salary and generous employee benefits
- Fulfilment — the opportunity to achieve everything you're capable of
5. What should I do now?
If you'd like to apply for any of our possible roles, please send your CV
(with a covering letter explaining what makes you right for CGP) to Morag Dean,
or email: recruitment@cgpbooks.co.uk
It'd be really helpful if you could also tell us about your current pay and benefits.
