**WARNING: CONTRADICTORY, INSUFFICIENT REVISION GUIDES !!!** What's wrong with the people signing this guest book? I cannot understand how anyone can revise from such sparse, contradicting revision guides. Revising from ones owns class book is far more fruitful, as my dear friend Esther Norris pointed out to you. Please read my other contributions to this guest book (under Y11 Students Bradfield School.) Sincerely, Alex P.S. Your books have obviously helped Steff McCarthy with her spelling. (See her entry for more details)

Not surprisingly I've found more misleading information in the CGP Maths GCSE Revision Guide. For finding the Nth term the formula in the book gives one the impression that the rule for square sequences can be used to find the formula for any sequence where the first difference is not a constant. This is incorrect as this only works for square sequences, where the second difference is a constant. Although it does correct itself further on (but very unclearly) it is very confusing for someone unfamiliar to the rule. I would not recommend this company to anyone as their books are very unclear, far too brief and very misleading. Revise free from anxiety, do not buy these pathetic books that have the cheek to call themselves revision guides. Sincerely, Y11 Student, Bradfield School, Sheffield

I'd just like to give you all a great big thank you!!!!! I used the cgp books for each of the subjects i took for my gcses and thanks to them I gained 13A* grades and 1A grade. I was extremely delighted, and I now attend one of the best sixth form colleges in the country!! Thank you so much. And I'll come back when I'm revising for my A-levels!!!! lots of love from, A STAR STUDENT!!!

Samuel.D.Borthwick — Saffron Walden , UK — 26 Feb 2001 at 15:57:00

I think CGP books are the best

Mark Acquaye — , UK — 26 Feb 2001 at 13:17:00

Why do you only have books for one A Level subject?

KA — , UK — 25 Feb 2001 at 20:20:00

Hey! I'd like to say well done to everyone who helped create these brilliant books. They deserve a praise from me and the rest of Elmlea Junior School in Westbury-on-Trym. We use your books all the time and we LOVE them! Keep writing them, and keep adding those super jokes and pics! P.S. Hi! to everyone at Elmlea!

Sparkle — Bristol , UK — 25 Feb 2001 at 16:57:00

I've been home educating my two younger children (11 & 13) for 2 years now and would be lost without CGP books! They are great, and the kids think so, too! We've just received our second order of books and are looking forward to the GCSE French workbooks and Intermediate Maths. How about a Geography workbook next?!! p.s. Delivery times could be improved - it took 15 days for this order to arrive!!

Susan Startin — Blackpool, Lancs. , UK — 24 Feb 2001 at 21:53:00

Natalie Durrant — , UK — 24 Feb 2001 at 20:16:00

I just love your revision guides. They have helped me so much and really highlight the main, important points which get lost in school files and textbooks. Please can you produce an I.C.T. revision guide?

Joanna — , UK — 24 Feb 2001 at 17:12:00

Brill the books r so helpful and recommended by teachers everywhere thanks to CGP i might just manage to pass my KS3

P Carr — , UK — 24 Feb 2001 at 16:29:00

I loved your books and they got me through my GCSE's with some actual qualifications, just because they are so funny. SO WHY aren't there more for A-levels?? I wasn't crazy enough to take maths.

Holly — , UK — 24 Feb 2001 at 14:21:00

Please may we have a book for GCSE Information Technology/Computers as soon as NOW PLEASE THANKS AND HURRY All the books are super, so easy to understand.

Russell — Newtownards , UK — 21 Feb 2001 at 10:52:00

Having purchased a number of your books (7), we have come to the conclusion that they really are pretty worthless. The so called humour is condescending and of no use to someone who is simply trying to revise. A lot of the material is either skimped upon, ambiguous or in conflict with what we have been taught. There is no point in trying to mix fun with revision, as we all know that the ones who perform in exams, don't do so because they laughed themselves there.(HOLLY) I find that your books are as useful as a personalised tooth pick holder in navy blue leather. I think that revising from my class book is more productive. And can you explain what all those stupid, irrelivent pictures in your maths work book are for? (ESTHER)

Holly and Esther Norris — Sheffield , UK — 20 Feb 2001 at 19:55:00

I would really like someone to make revision guides for as level/ a level on Classical Civilisation. I couldn't find them for GCSE and I bet they don't exist for a-level, if they do i bet they won't be as affoardable as yours. PLEASE MAKE THEM! Where can I get them from? I need help!

S Ruddick — Coventry , UK — 20 Feb 2001 at 16:22:00

What can I say?!-CGP books rule all books without a shadow of a doubt!

Zuri — Leytonstone, London , UK — 19 Feb 2001 at 19:42:00

I have been purchasing these lovely books for the past ?3? years and find them absolutely invaluable for the students I teach. They are clear, informative, fun and don't break the bank. Are there any plans to produce something with Verbal and Non verbal reasoning content for preparation for the 11+, which we still have in this area. Thanks again, keep up the good work Maggie and her students

Maggie Speirs — Sevenoaks, Kent , UK — 19 Feb 2001 at 15:45:00

What great books ! Have just found my first copy while browsing in a book shop. Visited the web site and pleased to see it is of the same high quality as the books. Will definitely be purchasing more. What about doing a series for us poor souls up here in Scotland who have to work to National Test Levels A,B,C,D,E,F There is very little published for us so I feel you could fill a gap in the market there.

These books are excellent, why doesn't my school have them? I'm going to try to change that! I first discovered them at a previous school, they were printed in black and white then, but were still brilliant. Keep up the good work!

nicola — , UK — 15 Feb 2001 at 21:47:00

We believe CGP GCSE Revision Guides to be a waste of time and money. One would be far better off (and would learn a great deal more through 'stress-free' revision) purchasing from a company with a mature attitude to education, such as Letts. At our age one appreciates that a book such as a revision guide is an educational resource, and therefore are highly insulted by the childish (if not babyish) style of the CGP Publications and the idiotic ways in which it trys to amuse the reader. Do not waste your money, buy from a mature dealer!

I have been using these books for five years now and cannot recommend them enough to my pupils! Brilliant!! Do you have any advertisement posters that I could use to promote the Maths GCSE/KS3 books?

Louise Irons — , UK — 15 Feb 2001 at 14:14:00

As a private tutor operating from home I have found your books to be invaluable for the students I deal with. These are mainly ones who are struggling with the basics in Maths and Science. After using your material for some time now I have found that children who thought they would fail at GCSE and KS3 have passed with commendable grades. This is in no small way thanks to your excellent material. I am pleased to see that you have started to print A Level Maths material. I shall certainly be ordering some very soon for my A level students. I am wondering whether you intend to cover the whole of the current modular Maths syllabuses, both for pure and mechanics and statistics eventually? Perhaps you would be good enough to let me know. Thank you for producing such excellent material.

I have a student from England in my science class this year. She showed me her KS3 Science Revision Guide that she used last year, and I loved it! Everything is so concise, and the pictures and jokes are great. Do you send your books overseas? If so, I'd like to see if my principal will let me order some of your books. It's so hard to find books that are actually interesting to the students, and I know my kids would love yours.

James Dumper — EASTLEIGH , UK — 03 Feb 2001 at 15:46:00

Dear CGP, I would like to say a huge thank-you for helping me pass numorous tests in my three science. I don't pick up science naturally and your books help me understand the topics better and the revision ideas are extremely helpful to. To prove I am not the only one who thinks this of your books I really think that you should visit the BBCs GCSE Bitesized revision on the internet, then look under screech and 'what did you get for'. There are several GCSE students who have written in telling the nation how good they think your revision aids are - keep it up!

Emma — Dinas Powys, Bro Morgannwg , UK — 03 Feb 2001 at 13:07:00

Tegan Rendall — Yate, Bristol , UK — 02 Feb 2001 at 15:14:00

I think your books are very good and informative. I have just done my SATS mocks and have used them in revision. I have a question to ask in that if I don't get good marks in my mocks and my SATs what would you do about it? I of course I would revise properly as I am being rewarded for good marks. I would just like to say that your graphics are very good and while away very very very very very very very boring revision time. Toodle Pip Robyn
