Guestbook Archive - February 2009
This site is very good. I think it is useful to everybody because of the lots of different varieties of books they have.
Aaliyah — London, United Kingdom — 27 Feb 2009 at 22:10:32
Great books. I have them all for GCSE. However it would be nice if you could make a book for GCSE Economics, not only Business Studies, as some chapters are different between the 2 subjects.
Pablo — London, United Kingdom — 27 Feb 2009 at 19:28:02
Hi CGP. At home I have a Science book and it is very very interesting, one of the best books I have ever had and it really explains everything you need to know. Thanks a lot!!

Hey there. I really enjoyed this website. I am your number one fan. I love you CGP!!

Where is your link to the CGP catalogue? I can't find it and I want to order some books. Please let me know as soon as possible.
Rijwana — manchester, United Kingdom — 25 Feb 2009 at 20:42:53
Guestbook Editor: You can see all our books by clicking on the product range button — you'll then be on a page where you can choose the subject and key stage. If you'd prefer to have a catalogue to flick through, just drop us an email and we'll send one out straight away. Hope this helps.
You're pretty spot on :)

The books have really helped me out. I struggle with my Science and the books have made it so clear that now I am confident for my SATS, woohoo!
Victoria Grant — Axminster, United Kingdom — 24 Feb 2009 at 21:26:39
Got GCSE's soon, not looking forward to them, going to invest in your books tomorrow, they have helped me achieve a B in my Science GCSE. So hopefully I should be able to bag about five more this year. Thanks guys.
Usman Ghani — Worcester, United Kingdom — 24 Feb 2009 at 21:11:23
I am a Year 6 teacher who uses almost all of your revision books and practice tests to help prepare my class for the SATs tests. We all love the new Targeted Question Books for KS2 Maths in the 3 levels but both myself and my pupils cannot understand why Targeted Question Books are not available for Science as well. Are there any plans to produce some? In our school we also use the continuous assessment tests in Mathematics. However, we have found that the levels awarded are slightly more generous than those in the QCA tests.
And one final point - are there any plans to bring out end of year assessments for Years 1 to 5 in Science?
Thank you - a CGP fan!
(Great books, Great Price, Great Service)

Guestbook Editor: We're busy working on our A2 range, so we've no plans to make any more Key Stage 2 books at the moment — sorry. We will be reviewing our KS2 range at some point soon, so we'll keep your suggestions in mind for then.

Are you planning to do a book on "A Midsummer Night''s Dream" complete text? This is a popular play at KS3 and KS4.
Cheryl Nichol — Newbury , United Kingdom — 24 Feb 2009 at 11:02:27
Guestbook Editor: Sorry - we're not planning to make this book at the moment, but thanks for the suggestion. We'll keep it in mind for the future.
I bought your A2 Physics Revision Guide the other day and I have to say it really is brilliant! I just came on to the website to buy the A2 Maths one as I couldn't find it in the shops, and I have to say I am a tad surprised to see you don't have one for it. So apart from that, I think your books are great! (I also need one for Further Maths but I always doubted you'd have one for that!)
Tim — New Oscott - Birmingham, United Kingdom — 23 Feb 2009 at 20:17:47
Guestbook Editor: We're really glad you like our Physics book. You're right about A2 Maths — we don't have a book for this at the moment. The problem is the course is so huge we haven't figured out a way of getting all the info into one lovely affordable book. We'll take another look at this next year, as the A2 Maths course is due to change then.
Brill but a few perks.

Hi, I really enjoy studying from CGP books but I don't really understand your jokes! I get great revision from it though, thank you!
Nivedita — Prasad, United Kingdom — 23 Feb 2009 at 17:12:05
I feel your books are great for younger children as the colloquial language and jokes seem to amuse them. However I literally can't stand the terrible jokes and word play. It doesn't help me remember key facts... it just annoys me.
Joanna-Marie — Northampton, United Kingdom — 23 Feb 2009 at 14:10:48
These books are great to have! They're fantastic revision and learning! However, I think some books need to be less colourful like the homework books! - that's the improvement.
cool — London, United Kingdom — 22 Feb 2009 at 22:42:45
Hi your books are cool I have them as homework but some I don't understand.
Katie — Tipton, United Kingdom — 22 Feb 2009 at 19:36:12
Guestbook Editor: If you're not sure about something in your homework it might be a good idea to ask your teacher for a some help — just so you understand it for next time.
It was ok but did not work for me it didn't have what I wanted.

These books are fab. I used them for GCSE Biology and Chemistry and they helped me soooo much. About to buy A-Level books now! Cheers CGP!!! xx

I found your Psychology AS guide very useful when it came to revising. I was very annoyed to find that you dont have an A2 guide for Psychology. I was really disappointed because I can't find any decent revision guides now. Psychology is a hard subject to revise and it's even harder when companies like you fail the students around the country. I hope something is done about this, it's too late to help Year 13's now.
Stef — , United Kingdom — 22 Feb 2009 at 12:03:21
Guestbook Editor: We're really sorry you feel disappointed — we try and make books as fast as we can. We're busy making an A2 Psychology Revision Guide at the moment, but it won't be ready until September. Perhaps you could talk to your Psychology teacher and see what they recommend for revision. Good luck with your studies.
My son loves the books, easy to read and nicely written, great for a quick parental overview of topics.

Many thanks for the books that you have sent me in the past, they have helped my children in their schooling immensely. They are useful and friendly in their text.
Sue Diggle — Bolton, United Kingdom — 21 Feb 2009 at 09:32:13
Hi again, I'm in KS3. I was just wondering could you get exam practice papers from like the year 2000? That would be good.
Pip — London, United Kingdom — 20 Feb 2009 at 09:57:51
Guestbook Editor: Sorry, we don't have any really old Practice Papers. The thing is, the stuff you need to know at each Key Stage changes from time to time — so recent ones are more helpful for revising.
Hi, I like your books. Why do some books cost £10.00 when its quite large and £4.50 when it is just a smaller thinner version of the big one? Sorry.
Pip — London , United Kingdom — 20 Feb 2009 at 08:22:14
Guestbook Editor: We try really hard to keep our prices as low as possible, but we do have to make a few pennies here and there — so we can make more lovely books.
Hi, it would be good if the revision books had exam style questions within the same book. It would be so much easier! But I have to say that your books are amazing!
Pip — London, United Kingdom — 20 Feb 2009 at 08:15:39
Guestbook Editor: You haven't said which level you're studying — if you're KS3 or GCSE, then our Complete Revision and Practice guides might be just what you're after. They're a mixture of clear notes, practice exercises and exam questions. Take a look at our product page for more info.
The books are very good, but you don't have one for Greek, which is a shame because that's the one I need.
Dylan — London, United Kingdom — 19 Feb 2009 at 21:07:59
The books are okay but they aren't the best... I like the jokes (sometimes!!). If you want good studying books then go elsewhere.

Really good books! Really I think you should have more Maths and Literacy and Science books and maybe I.C.T. because learning Maths and English is good for when you grow older, and Science actually and definitely Technology!!

The books are good but the site really isn''t very appealing. A lot more work needs to be done in order to make it a useful and resourceful revision website.

Hi, CGP books have helped me through my GCSE revision and they are great because they summarise all the info we need to learn. However sometimes they try a bit too hard to be funny...

£9.99 - when a thinner one costs £4.50!! It's obscene. And too plain, seems the more jokes, the cheaper it is - don't buy this book, read the syllabus online and use the other book. Was much more of a hinderance than a help.

Good selection of materials. It would be useful to have an add-on key to allow customers to select all choices at once on one webpage, for example one selection "ADD ALL" of English writing, reading and spelling, instead of presently one by one. Thanks.

Your range is great - thanks to you I got 9A*s and one A at GCSE. I am now doing AS levels, and looking forward to getting the Science books, but it would be helpful to have a larger range for AS/A levels. (Personally I could do with French and History!!)

I love CGP books, they are the perfect summary to almost everything we've learnt and have helped me massively in my mocks. The one thing I'd like to ask about is why you haven't done any IGCSE or (with regards to science) Triple Award-specific books? Would be fantastic to see CGP's originality and flair in these areas...

The entire range of Coordination Group Publications make a wholesale mockery of education, and their popularity and widespread use is a sad reflection of the second rate education that our children are receiving in Britain today.

Hafsah — , — 06 Feb 2009 at 07:51:49
It's a good book you know, you learn quite a bit , but there's too much on one page. You should space out the information etc. It would make it more understandable. You should add question revise after each topic, not section - I think you would benefit more. And the questions have got to make you think and remember what you just read. Overall it's a good book, thank you. I hope you take my comments towards changing it.

Amann — Slough, United Kingdom — 04 Feb 2009 at 22:13:05
I think the Science KS3 revision book is a bit too general. There were many points not covered specifically enough & our teacher had to photocopy sheets from other not so good text books to cover the specific details we needed to know. Overall, I like your books :), they're better for general revision.

We do try really hard to keep our prices as low as we can. Hopefully, if you compare us with other companies out there, you'll find we're still pretty good on price!
I wish you would produce more books for A/AS Level!

I use CGP books for OCR GCSE music - they are colourful, humorous and the pupils I teach enjoy them. The content is clearly presented in a way that pupils can understand with cartoons and diagrams as appropriate. They contain a range of information which can be used at all levels. I wish I had books like these when I was at school! They have had a big impact in motivating pupils and improving achievement levels for the listening exam at GCSE. The wording used in the books is simple and plain which helps everyone. I would strongly recommend them. CGP are very fast at dispatching them and the price is very cheap which represents excellent value.
