Guestbook Archive - January 2016
I recently added a comment about a week ago asking if you could make a daily revision guide for yr 6 english and maths and I was very disappointed to find no reply. Please tell me if you could or not make one.

Guestbook Editor: Ah, sorry about that. And after you said we were spectacular/amazing/awesome/cool, too.
It's hard to give you a definite yes/no answer to your question, unfortunately. We have a team who are constantly inventing new CGP books, and they regularly read the Guestbook to find out what people are asking for. But it takes quite a while to research whether an idea is going to work, then plan it into our schedule, actually write the book, get it printed... and so on.
Thanks very much for and all your positive comments — we're really pleased to hear that our books are helping you with your exams. Sorry we can't give you a more specific response to your request at the moment.
Excellent service, value and books, saves so much time and money

The electricity section is explained quite badly on the bit where voltage as the energy transferred per coulomb is explained. What is meant by "raising it through a voltage or going through a voltage drop" is too vague. Remember CGP, EAL users use this book - you must aim to use simple English

I used a couple of your books whilst a resident at HMP Haverigg to help other inmates with their reading, writing and maths skills. Very useful and easy to understand. Good books.

Hi CGP book creators (aka the best book creators) I'd like to say you are the best people ever as I'm acing my exams cause of you however I'd like to ask for a daily revision guide as I study every day so it would be helpful if you created a book with exercises for every day of the year other than that you are:
and... I ran out of words to describe your epicness
Ciao ! ;)

As a Home Ed parent these books are brilliant. My 12 y/o throughly enjoys the format & topic content.
They make planning out our week so much easier.

Really user friendly and especially engaging for the younger users. We love them. Thank you.

Well, I had Chicken Korma for tea, since you ask. I love your books - all of them - well thought out, well laid out and suitable for nearly all readers.
Keep it up CGP

I am extremely disappointed that you do not do a demo for the first few pages of this revision guide
Tom Maccann — Winton, United Kingdom — 21 Jan 2016 at 14:21:33
Guestbook Editor: Sorry about that. But you can look through pages 45-53 (plus the contents and index pages), if that's any consolation. Just go to the SHS33 page and choose the "Take a look" option.
Brilliant workbooks which really help children develop their skills.

Being impressed with how CGP performed during my GCSEs I decided to give them another go. So I open my freshly purchased CGP Psychology AQA AS Level guide (complete with "revision and practice"), newly updated for the 2015 spec, and look for the work I did last lesson, peer review. It's not there.
So I go to the lesson before that, Biopsychology, and look for a brain diagram. It's not there.
Would CGP like to explain how I am going to revise from a revision guide with non-existent bits of info in it. Last time I checked, "short, sharp revision notes", didn't mean revision guides with chunks of the actual notes savagely and unapologetically axed from the book.
Guess I'll just go back to the OCR textbook, which is thick, but not as thick as whoever thought that this matched the specification.
Jack — Basildon, United Kingdom — 14 Jan 2016 at 18:28:31
Guestbook Editor: Hello! First of all, we'd like to savagely and unapologetically apologise for any confusion. However, we're a bit confused ourselves... you mention that you're going back to the OCR textbook, which suggests you're studying the OCR Psychology course?
If that's the case, our AQA Complete Revision & Practice book won't perfectly match what you're studying, since it's written for the AQA specifications. OCR and AQA are separate exam boards, so they often choose to include slightly different content in their A-Level courses.
If you are studying AQA, the book will cover everything you need. For example, peer review is on page 94, and if a particular diagram isn't included, you won't be expected to learn it for the AQA exams. Don't lose your faith in CGP!
Having two children taking exams is very expensive! Very pleased to get a 35% discount though.

CGP helped me through my GCSE's last year and are still helping me through my A-Level Biology and Chemistry however im on a different exam board for psychology and i can't seem to find an edexcel psychology for A-Level, please can you make one and if you do can you point me in the right direction for it, thanks
Kia — Essex, United Kingdom — 14 Jan 2016 at 12:37:54
Guestbook Editor: Our new A-Level Psychology range only covers AQA at the moment, I'm afraid — sorry about that.
I would really appreciate an Italian gcse guide - no company seems to do them but I have seen other comments from years ago asking for Italian guides and I think they would be widely appreciated, I reckon I'm not the only one who finds the pronouns and tenses and agreements and general language a bit tricky :)

as a student taking GCSE business studies i find this book so helpful and would recommend any of the books to students or adults because the English is easy to understand and the helpful diagrams help the less able readers

Thank you CGP for getting me through my GCSEs last year! You guys helped me to get some results I was very pleased with! Any chance you could do anything for A Level French, History, English Lit or Music? I'm missing your helping hand, and very jealous of the scientists who still have your help :(
Sophie — Birmingham, United Kingdom — 05 Jan 2016 at 21:26:25
Guestbook Editor: We do have some excellent A-Level Text Guides for The Great Gatsby, Hamlet and Othello, but we're not working on the other A-Level subjects you mentioned at the moment, I'm afraid. History's difficult to cover because there are so many topics to choose from, but we'd love to make books for A-Level Languages and Music one of these days..
Very good (and funny) books :)

I have been using CGP books for approximately 10 years now in my role as a tutor and I can honestly say they never fail to please! I love them, my pupils love them and so do their parents. I am impressed with your books as they are always up to date with the curriculum and impressed with your website as it is so user friendly. On a couple of occasions, it has been necessary for me to phone your office and I have found your staff helpful and pleasant to deal with.
On a lighter note, reading the comment about French 'faux pas' reminds me of the time when my family went to stay with a French family and my father asked how much it cost to 'louer une femme' - he had meant to ask how much is cost to 'louer une ferme'!!!
