Are you taking GCSE Combined Science, or three separate Science GCSEs?

Most students will have to take GCSE Combined Science (which is a two-year course worth two GCSEs), and many schools offer the option of three separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics. These are the most common options:

Option 1 — GCSE Combined Science

GCSE Combined Science is a new two-year course covering Biology, Chemistry and Physics — it's worth two GCSEs.

Which CGP books will you need?

Each of our GCSE Combined Science Revision Guides and Exam Practice Workbooks cover both years of the course in a single book.

We'd recommend a Revision Guide and an Exam Practice Workbook — that way you'll have complete study notes and plenty of exam-style practice to match!

Our Complete Course Student Books and Complete Revision & Practice guides for GCSE Combined Science are divided up into separate books covering the Biology, Chemistry and Physics elements of the course.

You'll need all three books for full coverage of the exams.

Option 2 — GCSE Biology, GCSE Chemistry and GCSE Physics

Some students choose to take three separate GCSEs in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Which CGP books will you need?

For these subjects, you can choose from:

  • Revision Guides with matching Exam Practice Workbooks
  • Complete Course Student Books
  • Complete Revision & Practice

Whichever type of CGP book you opt for, you’ll need three separate books — one for each subject.

Which exam board sets your course?

GCSE Science courses and exams are set by “exam boards”. Each board sets a slightly different syllabus, so it’s best to choose the book that matches your course exactly if possible. If you’re not sure which exam board you’re studying with, your school will be able to tell you.

We have syllabus-specific books for these GCSE exam boards: AQA, Edexcel, OCR Gateway and OCR 21st Century (We also offer general books that cover a range of topics from all these boards.)

What about International GCSEs?

International GCSE (IGCSE) Science courses aren’t changing this year, so you’ll find all the CGP books you need in our current IGCSE Science section.
Note: IGCSE courses are sometimes referred to as Level 1 / Level 2 Certificates in the UK.
