Guestbook Archive - January 2008

Hey, is there any chance you could make a short guide on the best ways of revising, revision help and confidence and how you can plan your time for GCSE exams. Thanks! P.S. Your books are AMAZING.

Debbie — , United Kingdom — 30 Jan 2008 at 23:23:18

Guestbook Editor: You're in luck! We already have a revision tips books, it's called Professor Gunning's Erudite Course of Fact Retrieval. (Yes - we can imagine why you haven't found it!!) Just select the Private Customer link on the homepage and then type XRR41 into the search box, that should do the trick.

The jokes are not funny and the website has boring games and I didn't really learn much more off it.

Pupil — Rochdale, United Kingdom — 30 Jan 2008 at 20:49:37

Just bought your GSCE Science Revision Guide today and think it is excellent. However, I would like it if you had books which covered more of the topics on the Northern Ireland syllabus. Keep up the good work ;)

George — Belfast , United Kingdom — 30 Jan 2008 at 20:42:37

Amazing service! I ordered my books on Tuesday and they were in school on Wednesday! Thank you so much!

Helen Pritchard — Abergavenny, United Kingdom — 30 Jan 2008 at 20:24:18

If only all websites were as accessible and easy to use as the CGP website. In a matter of minutes, I found everything I could need for my English GCSE and purchased them safely and securely. This site gets an A* (like me, hopefully!)

Jack — Sevenoaks, United Kingdom — 30 Jan 2008 at 19:22:23

I think they're great =D Keep it up ! But I would say some of it isn't really realistic like... a sheep driving a bus?

Anono — Huntingdon, United Kingdom — 30 Jan 2008 at 18:42:47

Good.

Adam — , United Kingdom — 30 Jan 2008 at 18:30:38

The books are fantastic. They really help me to revise for my GCSEs. The games do not help and the website is not very good, but the books are fantastic

Adam — Derby, United Kingdom — 30 Jan 2008 at 18:22:20

No info whatsoever!

Salihah — Walthamstow, United Kingdom — 30 Jan 2008 at 09:02:35

I have like 6 Maths books, 3 Science books and 5 English books and loads more. Each one of them helped me alot! I was so shocked that my first Level in year 7 test I had a 6C!! I was sooo HAPPY!! CGP books are the BEST Revision Guides EVER!

Kyle Abay — Gillingham, United Kingdom — 29 Jan 2008 at 19:55:25

I don''t like the colour blue, brown or purple; can you get me a refund?
p.s. The jokes really aren''t funny - they''re for babies

anon. — ????? , United Kingdom — 29 Jan 2008 at 19:38:45

Guestbook Editor: Oh dear! We're very sorry you don't like our jokes... or all those colours. We know our humour isn't everyone's cup of tea, but surprisingly we do raise the odd chuckle! As for the refund — I've checked our poilicy and I'm afraid colour preference isn't inlcuded. Sorry!

These books are so good. Grade A in Science then B in the second module CAPOW!

Nath — London, United Kingdom — 29 Jan 2008 at 19:34:43

I really enjoy CGP books and the website, and I feel that I've gone up in my grades epecially in Science and Maths (I haven't gone up in my English because I've already got the highest mark). Thanks SO much!

Megan W (Year 6) — Upminster, Essex, United Kingdom — 29 Jan 2008 at 19:33:20

These books are great, I have learnt a lot from them whilst revising. I would recommend them.

Pupil — , United Kingdom — 29 Jan 2008 at 19:04:46

Your books are so cool!

James — Gosport, United Kingdom — 29 Jan 2008 at 18:41:03

Very helpful! You never fail tests! Always good!

Rara Jipson — London, United Kingdom — 28 Jan 2008 at 20:48:11

These books are really helpful because I didn't know what mean, mode, range and median meant. I only knew a little bit and I had it as my homework and because I looked in the book I knew what it meant and I got all my questions right. Well done to you and me. Thanks a lot because I know what it means now.

Channelle — Coventry, United Kingdom — 28 Jan 2008 at 19:27:26

Hi - it's good but still theres bits missing.

Katie and Lauren — Dewsbury, United Kingdom — 28 Jan 2008 at 18:32:49

The people who write your KS2 Science diet have a very poor grasp of the fundamentals of experimental protocol, and frequently misrepresent ideas of fact to fit in with the political agenda of SAT testing. These books are academically dubious at best. They certainly fail our children morally and scientifically, by some margin.

Philip Chambers — Shipdham, United Kingdom — 27 Jan 2008 at 18:43:02

I think this book is very useful.

Leanne — Rotherham, United Kingdom — 27 Jan 2008 at 16:29:59

Thank you CGP for my first A* in Maths GCSE (I was only predicted a C)!!! Thanks!

Katie — Epsom, United Kingdom — 27 Jan 2008 at 15:30:48

The jokes on the backs of the books aren't good. My brother put his book in the washing machine and he now has to pay for a new one and has an after school detention.

— , United Kingdom — 27 Jan 2008 at 14:33:08

Guestbook Editor: Ooops! We're very sorry that we confused your brother. We hope this hasn't got him into too much trouble — maybe his teacher could have a look on this Guestbook and see that we will take all the blame for him?!

The books are really good, especially the SATS ones. They really do help you. It's just that the games on the site aren't very good, as they don't tell you which questions you got wrong or right, you have to press cheat when you don't want to.

Rachael — , United Kingdom — 27 Jan 2008 at 14:25:58

Guestbook Editor: We really sorry that you haven't enjoyed our games. If you're having difficulties with a specific game, just let us know and send us your email address — we promise we'll get back to you with any ideas that might help.

This is a really bad website. I would suggest that you show all of the pages of the books on the website for revision purposes.

Freddy Mann — Exbury, United Kingdom — 26 Jan 2008 at 19:06:18

Guestbook Editor: We're sorry that you don't like our website. The reason why we don't show all the pages of the books is because then nobody would need to buy them... and if nobody buys them, we wouldn't make any pennies... and if we don't get any pennies, we can't make any more books... and if we don't make any more books... Well I'm sure you get the idea!

Really good and helpful books! One of the best books I have ever read.

Zayaan — Manama, Bahrain — 26 Jan 2008 at 18:28:39

These books are fab. They really do make life very easy. I think these books are great for young children and adults, because they have everything you need in them for your future. I thank you so much for giving me a chance to buy and revise from these books for my own future. Thank you!

Shazia — Nottinz, United Kingdom — 26 Jan 2008 at 16:25:11

My Science teacher gave me a CGP Science book and it is ABSOLUTLEY FANTASTIC! I love these books. The Science one helped me out loads and I have learned loads of cool stuff.

Lucia Morton Smith — Manchester, United Kingdom — 26 Jan 2008 at 08:58:12

CGP are the best books in the world. I have to have all the KS2 Science topic books. CGP is the best.

Alexander — Ascot, United Kingdom — 26 Jan 2008 at 08:18:10

CGP are magnificent. Their Practice Papers and Revision Guides give you unlimited knowledge and they are definitely a 5 star company. I even do them in my leisure time. It's worth it though.

Luke Skelding — Maidstone, United Kingdom — 25 Jan 2008 at 20:58:36

Excellent! Just what I need to get my son on the way to good SATS results. And take the pressure off revision.

Daryl Laverton — Basingstoke, United Kingdom — 25 Jan 2008 at 19:06:49

I have two CGP books and they are great. I definitely want to buy some more for my SATS! They are funny and really easy to revise from.

Lara — High Wycombe, United Kingdom — 25 Jan 2008 at 18:25:10

I have one of your study books this year and as I attend Parsons Down Junior School as a pupil I find it immensely useful... and no - I have not grown a beard yet!

Lauren Boys — Thatcham, United Kingdom — 25 Jan 2008 at 17:30:01

I love CGP books!!!!

Naimo — Mitcham, United Kingdom — 24 Jan 2008 at 17:21:55

CGP books are great! I have every single one for the courses I am taking. They are quite cheap and are good to read. Plus the delivery is free AND FAST!!!!!!! That's great. Thank you CGP

Jack — Chelmsford, United Kingdom — 23 Jan 2008 at 20:40:37

Excellent value, (school customer), fast delivery and superb material for use both at school and at home. I love your books - real money and, more importantly, time savers!

Gina Day — Dorcheester, United Kingdom — 23 Jan 2008 at 18:39:12

Please could you add a GCSE German book to your range, I take it at school and I need something to revise from. Thanks

anomyamus — som place, United Kingdom — 23 Jan 2008 at 18:01:45

Guestbook Editor: Beat you to it! We already have a GCSE German Revision Guide and Workbook. If you'd like to have a look at it, choose the 'Private Products' link on the website, then select 'GCSE', then 'Languages', then 'German'. Aren't we good to you?!

Your books are the best ones available. They are the best way to revise by simplifying info and making it easy to understand! Thanks loads.

Katie Coppin — Wolverhampton, United Kingdom — 23 Jan 2008 at 17:59:57

I'm soon starting my SATS in May and this site is so great to get information. I'll keep visiting this site, so I will hopefully get a 5 in my SATS!

Rachel — Shrewswbury, United Kingdom — 23 Jan 2008 at 17:55:21

I think these book are really good, but the only problem I have is that they do not have a wider range. I am studying A2-Level Travel and Tourism and I am really behind on my exam work :(

clare — northants, United Kingdom — 23 Jan 2008 at 17:24:19

Great books. But your online ordering system is annoying. I want to buy some books, but not give you all my contact details. So I have to invent and remember yet another password. And the extra credit card verification - good that you do it, but poorly explained up front. At first I wondered if I'd stumbled into a phishing site.

Terry Willan — Bromsgrove, United Kingdom — 22 Jan 2008 at 20:22:42

Guestbook Editor: We're really sorry you found our ordering system annoying. We do try to make things as helpful and friendly as we can, so we'll bear all your comments in mind for any future improvements.

CGP books helped me with independent revision for two Science retakes. And guess what...I got an A and A*! I am using your books for my GCSEs and do a page of the GCSE Higher Revision Guide every evening and never get bored! Thanks soooooo much CGP!

Han — Tw, United Kingdom — 22 Jan 2008 at 19:56:07

Your book is so good and so funny. I am doing so good on my tests. Thanks

Anisha Arzoo — Birmingham, United Kingdom — 22 Jan 2008 at 19:09:48

Hello CGP Books! You're books are so simple, yet so well written. The pages are all very clear and well explained. Thanx to you, I actually enjoyed homework!

H.Kitty — Big Apple Town, United States of America — 22 Jan 2008 at 19:02:37

First time user of this site. Prices are good. My son specifically asked for CGP books as he already uses them for other subjects. A very easy and painless site to use, well done.

Doug Staples — Newbury, United Kingdom — 22 Jan 2008 at 17:40:41

Your service has always been impeccable. The books have always arrived promptly and my daughter gets so much use out of them. Thanks for your great service!

Sarah — Saltash , United Kingdom — 22 Jan 2008 at 16:57:41

The GCSE English Writing Skills book gives some great advice and I would recommend these books to any of my friends struggling in a subject in school.

Alex Portlock — Cardiff, United Kingdom — 22 Jan 2008 at 16:45:57

Your books have brought me up! :p I used them for the 11 plus and I'm now using them for my GCSEs - thank you so much, I hope I can use them for AS as well!!

Helen — Kent, United Kingdom — 21 Jan 2008 at 20:29:37

(Commenting on book PYHR51, AS-Level Psychology Revision Guide

This book is really good! It helped me through my AS exam last week... no problem. I felt confident going in that I knew what I was doing, for the first time ever in an exam. I have bought the Biology CGP book and I am thinking about the Geography one too.

Michaela — South Shields, United Kingdom — 21 Jan 2008 at 19:27:37

The Science books really helped me.

Mole — Crouchend, United Kingdom — 21 Jan 2008 at 19:14:27

Wow! I love the books you make. Just need a little improvement.

Faiyaz — Dubai, United Arab Emirates — 21 Jan 2008 at 08:46:44

Guestbook Editor: We're glad you like our books so much... and we're always open to suggestions on how we can make things even better. So, suggest away!

Your French revision book got me an A*. Thanks :)

Rachel — Powys, United Kingdom — 20 Jan 2008 at 19:59:34

I would have been a little more pleased if there was a Workbook for The Tempest. But other than that brill!!! :)

This book helped me a LOT with my exams, got me very high levels.

Megan — Swindon, United Kingdom — 20 Jan 2008 at 17:56:45

Great books. I think they are really useful. Keep it up.

Alex — Knutsford, United Kingdom — 20 Jan 2008 at 13:19:46

I need an AS-Level PE guide! NOW!

Jess — London, United Kingdom — 20 Jan 2008 at 13:15:47

Guestbook Editor: Oh dear — we'd love to help you out, but it takes us a little while to get a whole new book together. Sorry! Good luck with your studies though.

I think that CGP books are very useful and help me alot to revise for my exams.

Dani — , United Kingdom — 19 Jan 2008 at 17:41:55

Please can you show more books for GCSE subjects as there are only 4 books, but there are loads of subjects. Thanks for your help.

Aisha — , United Kingdom — 19 Jan 2008 at 15:58:10

Guestbook Editor: Ooops - we're not too sure what's happened there. We do lots more than four books for GCSE. You should be able to see them by looking on the product pages of the website, under GCSE and then the subject you want. If you're still having problems seeing the full range of books, just give us a call on 0800 1712 712 and we'll help you out with it.

I am looking forward to my Key Stage 2 books and hope they are just what is needed. They sound excellent.

Alysce Oliver — Birchington , United Kingdom — 19 Jan 2008 at 15:07:16

I've received some books and all the pages are mixed up and quite a few pages are missing. How am I supposed to revise properly for my SATS with jumbled pages?

Jamie — Birmingham, United Kingdom — 19 Jan 2008 at 15:07:12

Guestbook Editor: We're very sorry that your books are all jumbled up. We've checked our copies and they're all in the right order. We'd really like to replace your books for you, but you've not left us any contact details. Please give us a call on 0800 1712 712 and we'll do everything we can to put this right for you.

Well I'm doing my KS3 SATS soon and these books are really helping.

Sofiee — Newmilton, United Kingdom — 19 Jan 2008 at 14:55:44

So, all I can say about CGP is that they are the best :) But why can't they make something that can push us another step higher in reaching our future goals? Like for GCSE.

Woobles — London, United Kingdom — 18 Jan 2008 at 20:41:56

Guestbook Editor: We always like to hear about new ideas for our books. So, why not drop us a line to let us know exactly what you were thinking of?

The books are really good on this site. I am a teacher and I will start buying more books on this website!!! Keep it up.

Sophie — Liverpool, United Kingdom — 18 Jan 2008 at 20:30:29

I think your books are fab for GCSE. But your A-Level ones need some work. They are good, but I am arrogant!

Chia Hao LI — London, Taiwan — 18 Jan 2008 at 20:05:41

Ur books r great.

Leena — London, United Kingdom — 18 Jan 2008 at 10:46:14

Please could you do A-Level Revision Guides for Psychology, Economics and Home Economics; I was very disappointed to see so little books for the A Level range.

Kim — Wolverhampton, United Kingdom — 17 Jan 2008 at 21:07:11

Where are the English games? How dare you! I have checked... and still NO improvements? I will check again after 2 days! This is your last chance!!!

O association — London, United Kingdom — 17 Jan 2008 at 18:44:57

Guestbook Editor: Oh dear! We're very sorry... please don't hurt us... we've all been toiling away with books lately. But don't panic — we're always looking for ways to improve the website too, so you can be sure we'll bear your comments (or threat!) in mind.

This is good to do and fun!

Lauren — Wednesbury, United Kingdom — 17 Jan 2008 at 13:09:48

The site is so easy to follow and it is easy to order without having to worry about huge postage costs appearing at the last stage. A pleasure to use.

Alice Ducey — Sevenoaks , United Kingdom — 16 Jan 2008 at 22:36:41

I only wished that you had stuff on Psychology and Human Biology, instead of Biology at A Level. But other than that it was good and helped me pass my GCSEs. Thanks a lot.

Paula — Slough , United Kingdom — 16 Jan 2008 at 21:06:47

Guestbook Editor: Good news! We do have Revision Guides for AS Level Psychology and we're going to be having a good look at our A-Level range this year — ready for the changes to the courses that are coming up in September. So we'll bear your comments in mind.

I am in Year 7 and left primary school with Level 4s and in my Practice Papers I got level 6

I have used your books throughout my home-education; I only wish you covered the subjects I am taking now! (GCSE Sociology, Psychology and Law.) Thanks!

Ella — Devon, United Kingdom — 15 Jan 2008 at 17:41:33

Throughout all the schooling with both my children, I have found these books informative, helpful, easy to follow and well in-step with the school's curriculum. Now I teach my son at home, I couldn't be without them. The service from CGP books has always been brilliant. Thank you.

Hi. This book is really good... just one problem... on p93 it says that thick lead can stop gamma. Actually gamma can only be reduced as it is unstoppable and I think this is quite an important point that people need to know. Thanks for the book though it is gr8!!! :)

— , United Kingdom — 14 Jan 2008 at 20:04:41

Guestbook Editor: Well done you! You're absolutely right. Now here's the explanation... deep breath! Thick lead won't stop every bit of gamma radiation, but the amount that can get through is so low that it is considered to be 'safe'. For the exam though, for all intents and purposes, the radiation is considered 'stopped'. This is so you can easily compare the penetration abilities of ionising radiation. Hope that clears that one up!

Great books! I am a parent trying to help my daughter through her exams and in the past I got her books for options like Media Studies, Child Development and Graphics, but she just asked if I could get her some examination papers. I have seen you don't do them. I think they would help all the parents out there who are trying to help their children!

Debbie — Greenfield, United Kingdom — 14 Jan 2008 at 13:46:03

Guestbook Editor: You're quite right — Practice Papers are a brilliant way to prepare for the real exams. We don't currently have Practice Papers for the subjects you've mentioned, but we do make them for the main subjects (English, Maths and Science) for SATS and GCSE, as well as a selection of other subjects at GCSE. You can have a good look at them on the product pages on our website. Happy practising!

This is one of the best books ever — it gave me all the information I needed.

Krishan — London, United Kingdom — 13 Jan 2008 at 20:57:42

Madeline — Basinsgtoke, United Kingdom — 12 Jan 2008 at 19:40:29

Rosie and Jessica — Barry, United Kingdom — 12 Jan 2008 at 19:08:45

Hi. I really like your books — they help me a lot! I was just wondering — why don't you have an A2 Level Psychology Revision Guide?

Sarah-Louise — , United Kingdom — 12 Jan 2008 at 13:45:59

I think that your books are great, but there is one slight problem with the website. It's a bit boring and bland, maybe you should make it a bit more exciting for people who have to revise. Thanks.

Teri — Southampton, United Kingdom — 12 Jan 2008 at 10:10:58

Dawn Thankachan — Fakenham, United Kingdom — 08 Jan 2008 at 18:36:29

Hi, could you please add some interactive games to your website rather than just tests, because I feel that I learn a lot more by doing something rather than reading. Also, could you please make a GCSE Japanese book as I know it's becoming a more popular language to take. Thanks.

I had my cousins in England send me the specifications. The CGP learning guides come to very good use. Keep up the hard work.

Wow, I have to say, I owe my awesome GCSE grades to CGP. Sometimes my teachers weren't so great, but I always knew I had your Revision Guides to fall back upon! I am now doing my AS level and using your great Biology and Chemistry Revision Guides. Thank you! But how come you don't have an OCR B Physics revision guide? It's such a different syllabus from the other A-level Physics that it's impossible to find a relevant Revision Guide!

Guestbook Editor: Oh... we're sure your GCSE grades were all down to you really! As for the A-level books — we know there are some changes coming up for A-level courses in September 2008, so we're having a look at what we can do to make sure our lovely customers will have all the lovely books they need. Watch this space!

This is the clearest and easiest Internet ordering site I have ever used. Service is always excellent.

I am a student about to do my GCSE mock exams. Your website and books are all great — I have a huge collection! However, while playing one of the Maths games, I found that it didn't tell me how to write the answers. So maybe someone could make it clearer as to how to write the answers? Thanks!

It would have been useful for my son if you had offered a GCSE Electronics Revision Guide.

Excellent books — top... ace!

Sam — Blackburn, United Kingdom — 05 Jan 2008 at 19:36:11

Can u please add a Latin Revision Guide for GCSE? All these declensions and stuff are making Latin boring!

Amar — Slough, United Kingdom — 05 Jan 2008 at 17:36:59

I want to learn more in all lessons to take my exam marks higher. Can you give me tips for exams and learning? Please. Thank u!

Johsery — Ledbury, United Kingdom — 05 Jan 2008 at 12:29:29

Guestbook Editor: Always happy to help... Just go to the Private Customers section of the website, type XRR41 into the search box and you will be able to view a revision timetable and some revision tips. Good luck with your studies!

This website is very easy to use, but you need to add a bit more to do in the KS3 Science games!

I have a few of your Revision Guides from my school. They are great and they really help! Thanks!

Student — Hamilton, Bermuda — 04 Jan 2008 at 19:33:38

Hooray for a site where you can make a quick and easy purchase. And a louder hooray that there is a GCSE Product Design Revision Guide. I look forward to being enlightened.

Nicola Lomas — Leamington Spa, United Kingdom — 04 Jan 2008 at 17:48:00

I love your CGP Revision Guides. They make me want to revise more and learn more! They're fantastic! :D People think I am mad revising so much, but I just can't help it — it's like you're not alone and is much more interesting than just reading back all your notes in your exercise book... Keep It Up!

Michael Perry — Northwich, United Kingdom — 04 Jan 2008 at 16:16:58

Your website is so easy to use, I wish all sites were as good. Thank you for not wasting my time!

Jackie Gibbons — Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom — 04 Jan 2008 at 09:45:42

CGP books are brilliant and they helped me to get really good grades at GCSE. But now I'm doing my A levels and I'm really missing using them. Could you please expand the range, for example — include History, PE and Film Studies. I am currently using the Physics book which is great! Thankyou!

I was wondering, now I am in year 8 I have chosen to learn a second language — German, do you do a revision guide for KS3 German? Thank you for your help.

Fiona — Huddersfield, United Kingdom — 03 Jan 2008 at 20:29:17

Guestbook Editor: We most certainly do — take a look in the product pages of our website, under KS3, then Languages, then German...it will be there waiting patiently for you!

I can''t thank you enough CGP - not only do you make revision bearable, but you managed to get me good marks so far in all of my exams!! THANK YOU!

Katie Barry — Epsom , United Kingdom — 03 Jan 2008 at 18:42:13

This is the second time I've written in to this guestbook. I just can't resist telling you [CGP] how much your books are helping me.

Leila — Burgess Hill, United Kingdom — 02 Jan 2008 at 14:18:24

Thank you for the lovely books! They're excellent! But why can't we get a package deal with all the books that we want? Also, why are school books cheaper? My school sells CGP books for half the price and they're brand new! Please try to make the books cheaper!

Dia — Leicester, United Kingdom — 02 Jan 2008 at 12:01:01

Guestbook Editor:

I think the site is really good and the revision books are just as good as the site.
